The life of Jesus. What better focus as we travel in the Lenten season and look toward the celebration of Easter?  In the original Christian calendar the Lenten season was set aside to focus and pray along with Jesus as he journeyed to the cross.

Today Pastor Adam completed our study of Romans 8. Even though there will be hard times in all of our lives, there is a hope and a promise and a power bigger than us. Sometimes we confuse the goodness of God and his plan with what WE want and hope for in our lives. Could that be the case in your life? 

Suffering certainly is not anyone’s favorite topic and we all try to avoid it. Romans 8 speaks about suffering and that even creation experiences it. It is put in place to let us know this world is not the way its supposed to be and this is not our true home.  C.S. Lewis calls it . . .

We all long to belong and feel like we fit in. Paul speaks to this in Romans 8. Understanding who God is and understanding who you are is key to the Christian life and to realizing your true identity in this world.  

You have placed your faith in what Jesus has done on the cross on your behalf, but now what? Is that all there is to the Christian life? Have you moved forward spiritually since that happened?  Romans 8 helps us get unstuck and grow and mature in our journey with Jesus. 

This is our last week in James. In chapter 5, James gives some warnings, reminders and instructions about how we should live. These are given in a tone similar to the way a parent might instruct a child as they are about to leave home to help their child have a good perspective and a joyful, healthy life.  

Pastor Adam continues our series in the powerful book of James. James is the younger brother of Jesus. He didn’t believe Jesus was the Messiah until he saw the risen Christ.  Then he began risking his life to help the message of Jesus Christ and the Christian church spread.  It is humbling to think about the all the risks taken throughout the centuries by believing Christians in order to spread the good news of Jesus Christ.

Words. They have tremendous power. They can direct, they can destroy or they can delight. Words have the potential for destruction or for good. The same power can cause pain, war, bombs and wounds OR they can bring light . . .
