Our Team

Adam Harris

Adam answered the Lord’s calling to ministry at an early age. He has served in various ministry roles in churches in New Mexico and Texas for more than twenty years. He loves the Church and what it can do in peoples lives and in our community. The Harris family made the move to San Antonio in 2015 to be a part of reaching our city. In God’s perfect timing He opened the doors for Adam to serve as the associate pastor at Rockhills Church in June of 2016. Adam was installed as lead pastor in January of 2017.

Adam enjoys spending time with his wife Tiffany and their four wonderful children. They love serving the Lord and the church together.

Josh Nunez

Josh Nunez loves spending time with his daughter Collins, his son Austin, and his wife Kimberly. He has been a Worship Pastor for 14 years and has a huge passion for leading others in authentic worship. He also writes Christian music and loves to share his heart through his songs. He grew up in San Antonio and is a crazy Spurs fan. Josh first started leading worship in his dad’s church. He has two sisters, Mallory and Hannah, and his family is very close. He is very excited to be a part of Rockhills and what God is doing! His favorite quote is from author Jon Acuff, “I’ll never be more famous than I am now with the God of the universe knowing my name.”

Jimmie Hawkins

Jimmie grew up in San Antonio and is a proud graduate of O.W. Holmes High School. He earned an athletic scholarship to Texas A&M University and played on the 1985 Southwest Conference Championship team who became the 1986 Cotton Bowl. He then signed a free agent contract with the New England Patriots. Jimmie entered the Air Force in 1992 after receiving his commission through the AFROTC program at the University of Texas at San Antonio. After 22 years of faithful service in the Space and Missile career field, Jimmie retired from the Air Force in August 2014.

Jimmie is married to Yvonne, also a Holmes High School graduate, and they have three children: Jamal, Jalen and Lauryn.

In addition to his role as one of the Elders at Rockhills, Jimmie is part of the setup crew transforming Huebner Elementary into a place of worship. Jimmie enjoys spending time with his family, participating in sports, and sharing life with the members of the Rockhills community.

Al Hassler

Al serves on our teaching team and likes to ask, “What’s a former atheist and current trial lawyer doing giving his time to teach at a church?” He is passionate about helping people get connected to Jesus and finding community at Rockhills. When he began following Jesus 20 years ago–he had no friends, a failing marriage, and no where to turn. But when he joined a faith community, a few key relationships changed the course of his life and marriage.

Ever since then, he has seen many struggling people find healthy community in the church and that’s why he’s given his life to help others find what he found. Al loves hiking and mountain biking with his wife Jan, and enjoys using his law background to help folks. His greatest joy though is to see people getting connected in community and truly experiencing the life God intended for us in Jesus.

Stephen Eckert

Stephen became a believer in Christ at a very young age, and was at church “every time the doors were open” through high school. College was a time of questioning for him, as he joined a secular service fraternity, and found that it did more to serve people than he had ever done in church growing up, or in the Christian organization he joined in college. Although he never gave up his faith, he did (through both questioning and a little laziness) stop attending church during that time.

After meeting his lovely wife Laura in graduate school, they both found a church where they were learning and growing, and became plugged in. They have attended several churches over the years, because of relocations. Stephen works in the pharamceutical/medical device industry, and has experienced several mergers and office closings. Stephen and Laura found Rockhills in 2009, and were drawn to both the Come As You Are philosophy, and the emphasis on service.

Stephen is now an elder, and is part of the teaching team on Sunday mornings. He also works in Base Camp teaching 2nd and 3rd graders. Stephen enjoys movies and hosts Texas Hold’em tournaments twice a year.

Angelica Lopez

For the past 15 years Angelica has worked as a Child Development Specialist by coaching and training families on how to help their children reach their fullest potential. Now she is honored and humbled by the opportunity to serve as the Rockhills Children’s Ministry Director and partner with families on helping children reach their fullest faith relationship potential with Jesus.

Her inspiration and passion for serving in the children’s ministry comes from Psalm 145:4 “Let each generation tell its children of your mighty acts; let them proclaim your power.” (NLT) Every detail that goes into a Sunday morning lesson comes from the desire to fulfill that purpose.

Angelica has been married to Art, her college sweetheart, since 2001. Together they have four children who keep their family life active, exciting and crazy in the best way!

Jan Hassler

Jan Hassler grew up in the mountains of Colorado and New Mexico. She landed in Texas for college, where she received a degree in Social Services and Criminal Justice. Later in life, she graduated from a Spiritual Formation and Spiritual Direction program.

Jan has a passion for journeying with others in a personal way as they discover their life stories, seeking to hear and know God better and respond to His leading in their sacred and ordinary moments of life. She particularly has a tender place for those on the “front lines” of ministry to help them find rest and rejuvenation for their hearts and souls. She is a trained spiritual director and accompanying people in this capacity is a joy and a gift in her life.

Jan enjoys living life with her four-legged canine companions and her husband, Al. Together they do a lot of marriage mentoring and hiking in the mountains. She is a Master Gardener and finds therapy “playing in the dirt”. She is enjoying being “Tito” to her two grandchildren and having them help her see the sacred and ordinary moments of life in new and refreshing ways.

Stuart Green

Stuart is a native of San Antonio, and also spent several years living and working in Austin, where he met his wife, Amy. They have been married for 17 years and have one daughter, Sydney. Clay Burnett

Clay grew up in a small south Texas town with less than 2,000 people and eventually moved to San Antonio where he met his thoughtful and beautiful wife, Sarah. They were attracted to Rockhills because of its focus on community service and small groups. Clay became a believer in Christ and was baptized in 2014 at Rockhills, where he now serves as a Deacon. His primary focus at Rockhills is to build partnerships with local charities and organize community service projects. In his daily life he enjoys spending quality time and traveling with his wife, the productive work that he accomplishes in his commercial banking career, and competitive running.
