It’s been said prayer is the difference between the best WE can do and the best GOD can do. If you’ve been thinking about what might be the NEXT STEP in your relationship with God after hearing the excellent teaching in our “next step” series just completed – this might be just what you’ve been waiting for!
Rockhills is initiating a 40 day prayer challenge which will coincide with the Lenten season. Lent is a season in the ancient Christian calendar which leads up to Easter. Many christians use this season to “let go” of something (giving up) or TAKE ON something. The model is Jesus in the garden – he let go of food & fasted, and he took on a season of intense prayer focus.
Join in with your Rockhills family as we TAKE ON a prayer focus during these 40 days and lift our voices to God in unison and watch what only HE can do in our lives and in our church community.
Here’s the specifics of your invitation to join the challenge:
Commit to pray with us at either 6:18 a.m. or 6:18 p.m – – or BOTH.
Why 6:18? There is no perfect time for everyone, and this time was chosen based upon Eph. 6:18 which says: And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. Obviously, there’s no magic in time so feel free to pick a time that works for you and your family. But there is something encouraging and unifying knowing others are doing the same thing as you with the same focus as you.
We offer two ideas to help you remember these prayer times and join us in prayer: 1) Consider setting an alarm as your reminder; 2) ORRRRR…..we have just the thing: Rockhills Text Reminders!!!! Text “rockhillschurch” to 48421 and we will set you up for a 6:18 a.m. and 6:18 p.m. text to remind you to pray along with the rest of the Rockhills family.
Our prayer card, 40 day prayer challenge handout PDF, has some ideas for prayer topics as well as some specific requests for Rockhills Church.
Our Basecamp kids are also participating by making prayer chains for the 40 days. Take your family to the NEXT STEP with God by participating in this challenge as a family – see how prayer might make a difference between what YOU can do and ONLY HE can do in and for your own family as well as our church family.
Will you join us in this 40 day lenten prayer challenge to see the difference between the best we can do and the best God can do?
